Come
on out and try kayaking for FREE! The
Northwest Passage has designed a sea kayaking opportunity
for anyone who has ever thought about sea kayaking. We invite
you to come out and give this growing water-sport a try under
the supervision of our experienced guides. There is no pre-registration
for this event - it is first-come, first-served! This program
is designed to allow at least 20 minutes of kayaking for every
participant. If time allows, you will have the opportunity to
kayak longer and try out different kayaks.

KAYAK EXTRAVAGANZA

Dates
& Locations: May Extravaganza will take place at either
Gillson Beach in Wilmette or the Skokie Lagoons depending upon the
weather conditions and the temperament of Lake Michigan. If you
are planning on joining us, you will want to check our website's
Homepage or Extravaganza
page to confirm which location we will be kayaking out of.
July
Extravaganza will take place at Lake Arlington, in Arlington Heights,
IL. This location is very reliable but could still be effected by
bad weather condition. If the forecast for June 24th calls for bad
weather, Please check our website's Homepage
or Extravaganza page to confirm.
Extravaganza
Hours: Although our Sea Kayak
Extravaganza takes place from 10:00am - 4:00pm, you are in no
way obligated to commit your entire day to kayaking. Our goal is
to provide every participant at least 20-30 minutes of kayaking
time. If you are interested in kayaking longer than that we
will do our best to accomodate. Obviously, this depends on how many
people show up to the Kayak Extravaganza
and how many kayaks are available.
What
to Expect: Upon arrival, we will ask everyone to check-in at
our "Check-in" station. We will brief you on where to
go and what to take with you. Once you check-in you will move on
to the outfit station where we will fit you with a PFD (personal
flotation device) and a paddle. From there you will move on to an
instructor who will give your group a brief lesson on how to paddle.
Finally, you will be fitted in a kayak and hit the water! We will
have guides from The Northwest Passage at
every station and on the water to provide you with assistance throughout
your Extravaganza experience.
