Skokie Lagoons Maps and Directions

Home Directions Skokie Lagoons

The Skokie Lagoons in Winnetka are a hidden slice of the outdoors located close to the bustle of Chicago. This man made waterway is home to many wooded islands, hidden water trails, and abundant wildlife. As the water trails are connected to the North Branch of the Chicago River, an andventurous paddler could put in at the Skokie Lagoons and kayak all the way to the Gulf of Mexico without leaving their boat.

Generic Directions

I-94:
Northbound: Exit at Willow Roador and head east for approximately half a mile. Turn left on Forest Way Drive. Three is no stoplight and this turn can easily be missed. Take Forest Way Drive through the lagoons to the intersection with tower road. Turn left on Tower Road and drive west for about half a mile going over a small bridge. Promptly after the bridge turn left into the parking lot of the Forest Preserve boat launch. If you end up crossing over the expressway, you have missed the turn to the boat launch and need to turn around.
Southbound: Exit at Tower Road. Turn right into the Forest Preserve parking lot(your first right). Continue down to boat launch.

From Lake Shore Drive (Chicago): Take Lake Shore Drive north to Sheridan Road. Continue north on Sheridan through Evanston, past Northwestern University, Wilmette, Kenilworth, and Winnetka. At the intersection of Tower Road, turn left. Take Tower Road west for approximately four miles. You will pass Green Bay Rd, Hibbard Rd, and Forest Way Drive and come to a small bridge. Promptly after the bridge turn left into the parking lot of the Forest Preserve boat launch. If you end up crossing over the expressway, you have missed the turn to the boat launch and need to turn around.
